Once defining relationship and interaction , most of us would confined to focus on the importance of the relationship between human beings , but tend to forget to discuss the interaction with objects, which may sometimes possess more influential power than a human could bring. The way of how Objects have been used can be viewed as a feedback, or in another word, a revelation of the users themselves---Are you closed with your families? Whether you enjoy being alone or not? What kind of value you believe in? On the contrary, however, in most of the time, the rules of using those things could always affect their users, gently in disguise but actually seriously transform people’s lifestyle in the long run.

According to Marcel Mauss, a well-known anthropologist, he stated an idea in his classic work “Essai sur le don”, that giving something to another one is actually presenting partial self , which on the other side, the receiver accepts the inner soul from the giver. Although the goal of his work is to discuss the exchange value and also the gift economy, somehow it still explains that object could be a carrier of owner’s spiritual consciousness.

Objects have been consumed gradually from time to time, and ultimately work as a present of our existence, which is another way of honest self-revealing.

In this group exhibition, NUNU FINE ART gathers five Asian artists, who respectively chose still objects as the subject of their works with different reasons.

Take Indonesia’s art group Tromarama for example , their stop motion animations are mainly using symbolic words and objects, featuring music to represent their works . They deeply know that simply using objects in their works could render more space for interpretation, comparing to letting any animals or people involve.

Another Indonesian artist Aditya Novali reflects his identity on the tools he uses --- his paintbrushes. His paint brushes appear in different shapes and structures, and have been displayed as an installation. Every tool is shown in diverse forms and compositions, representing the timeline of how a art work has been created . With the concept of time and tools in his works , Aditya especially gives weight to the process of getting along with works, which has been neglected often . Artists Marc Reyes and Lebajo are both living in Philippines. Though both of them choose objects as the main topic in their paintings, they show different attitude and style. Objects are a gaze of their culture and daily life, and thus create an atmosphere different from normal still object paintings. As of Taiwanese artist Ya-Chu Kang, who also inspired by memory arising from objects, she utilizes used-package as raw material. Attracted by the mind that package is the emotion that has traveled through time and space, she made a series of backpack in order to embody the internal affections and memory.
