Rona Pondick: Sculpture

Exhibition

This November, we are honored to present New York-based sculptor Rona Pondick’s first solo exhibition in Asia. Born in 1952, Pondick has exhibited for over 35 years, and her work has been collected by more than 50 prestigious art institutions worldwide. This exhibition will feature her latest body of work made between 2013-2018.  After debuting in 2018, these sculptures caught the attention of renowned curators and art critics, and they were widely praised in the press.

Inspired by Kafka, mythology, and ancient art, in this new series of works Pondick creates literary and symbolic creatures that are familiar, alien, and absurd. She incorporates fragments of her own body in sculptures that appear to be in flux, as if they are undergoing metamorphosis.  The sculptures are fluid ungraspable, and undefinable. The artist makes a world of translucent and opaque color that is radiant, seductive, and richly metaphoric.

Please visit this powerful exhibition of the extraordinarily crafted work of the world-renowned sculptor, Rona Pondick, and witness a feast for the eyes, with heart-wrenching power.
