Fear No More, Says the Heart: Female Artists Group Exhibition

From the Feminist movement in 1960s to #MeToo in 2017, symbolized the change of traditional value of patriarchal supremacy. In the 21st century, numerous outstanding women in different fields have already proved the extraordinary abilities of female in critical thinking and perception. More and more women make their voice heard in a various ways, including by art. Therefore, this exhibition selected the quote from English writer, Virginia Woolf ‘s novel “Mrs. Dalloway” as the title of this exhibition. As the pioneer of feminism, Virginia Woolf revealed avant-garde feminist thought with a strong literary style to the people at that time. Likewise, the female artists who collaborated with Nunu Fine Art search for the value in their mind through creating art with the spirit of “Fear No More, Says the Heart”.

“Fear No More, Says the Heart: Female Artists Group Exhibition” will present artworks from seven female artists, Kao Ya- Ting from Taiwan Glenda Leon, Ariamna Contino and Alex Hernández, from Cuba, Ana Teresa Barboza from Peru, Ayka Go from Philippines, Maya Hewitt from U.K., and Thordis Adalsteinsdottir from Iceland. Each of them earns a place in the art world by their unique style and the use of media. Their artworks not only allow audiences to feel the “gentle but firm” power of women, they also bring up diverse social issues and personal life experience which come from their different cultural and historical backgrounds. No matter the artist is inspired by cultural and historical backgrounds, everyday life, or social events, artworks are like mirrors reflecting the inner-self of every artist, which deserves our appreciation.
