According to Mikhail Bakhtin, carnival reflects an ideal way of living and embodies his political utopia; the poetry of carnivalization is the poetry raw, crude, authentic, and always in transformation and in progress. If we were to describe the encounter of three contemporary artists, each independently presenting an entire language of symbolic concretely sensuous forms, revealing viewpoints in social context, and holding an atmosphere of persons sunk into their inner spheres and thoughts, there’s probably no better term than Bakhtin ‘s “heteroglossia.”

Kaspar Bonnén from Copenhagen, Brad Darcy from New York, and Iabadiou Piko from Yogyakarta is now exhibiting in “Heteroglossia” group show at Nunu Fine Art.
