Strict Selection: Multiple Dimension of Philippine's Contemporary Art

Since 2007, art investors started to lay eyes on Southeastern Asia whilst the Western market was severely struck by the financial crisis. The injection of foreign investment has enhanced the growth of the art market in this blooming part of Asia. However, the selling point of the contemporary Southeastern Asian art does not lie in the hiking of the auction prices but the common ground between them and the Chinese cultural circle. Living in the similar vein of culture or colonial past, or looking backwards to centuries ago, we co-exist as biological twins originating from the navel which nurtures us with similar languages and symbols. Therefore, despite the fact that the public are still unfamiliar with the contemporary art in Southeastern Asia, in the face of these artwork, echoes which ring down from the intertwined cultural roots can give the audience a surging sense of closeness and nostalgia. As the leading contemporary gallery in Taipei, NUNU FINE ART is pleased to collaborate with The Drawing Room to introduce five of most important contemporary artists from Philippine. The exhibition "Strict Selection: Multi-Dimension of Phillippines contemporary art" will open on Nov. 1st at 6pm. We welcome to join us to discovery Philippine contemporary art scene.
