Filipino Artists Double Solo Exhibitions: Gene Paul Martin & Ciron Señeres

Southeast Asia has been on critical trade route since ancient times and thus is deeply influenced by different cultures and religions. The influence of China, India, Arab immigrants and merchants, the colonization of Western Countries, complicated by Southeast Asia's own spiritual beliefs, form an unique Southeast Asian art. In the past few decades, with more and more talented Southeast Asian artists, the local first and secondary art markets flourish, and Southeast Asian art has gradually received international recognitions.

Nunu Fine Art has always been closely cooperating with Southeast Asian artists. In this summer, we present two new generation of Filipino artists to our audience in Taiwan, Gene Paul Martin "Do you do it? Does it do you?" and Ciron Señeres "Unintentional Forming Objects (UFO)."

In Martin's work, he seems to break the common sense, reinterpreting everything with bright colors and chaotic objects; however, at the same time, everything is so random that it seems that the painting is leading Martin to interpret itself. On the other hand, from Martin's paintings, you can also see the influence of Southeast Asian animist beliefs on local art. The elements of witchdoctors, gods, evil spirits all make his works more mysterious.

With these exhibitions of two new generation artists, Nunu Fine Art hopes to engage more people with the fast-growing Southeast Asian art and bring a broader perspective to the audience in Taiwan
