We are pleased to report the acquisition of Caroline Monnet’s "Kingdom" (2026) by the Dallas Museum of Art. Each year since 2016, the DMA selects works to enter the museum’s collection through the Dallas Art Fair’s Foundation Art Acquisition Fund. This year, "Kingdom" (2026) was announced on the opening day of DAF by Dr. Vivian Li, DMA Lupe Murchison Curator of Contemporary Art alongside works by Hasani Sahlehe, Gloria Klein, Raymond Saunders, and Nicole Eisenman.

"Kingdom" (2026) is an abstract triptych constructed of polyester thread on roof underlayment material. In using construction material, the artist references the housing crisis’ disproportionate effects on Indigenous populations in Canada, a social issue often discussed in her work. Caroline Monnet lives and works in Mooniyang/Montreal and originally hails from Canada’s Outaouais region. She is of Anishinaabe and French background and uses her work to communicate Indigenous identity through complex cultural narratives and to grapple with legacies of colonialism.
