An exhibition of more than 30 artworks by 18 women artists showcases the critical role of artists in shaping the climate narrative, curated by Virginia Shore and Sarah Tanguy.

“The climate crisis is no longer a distant threat; it is a stark reality that demands our immediate attention. Our planet is undergoing unprecedented changes that include rising global temperatures and sea levels, extreme weather events, and the loss of biodiversity. In a time when the enormity of this crisis can be overwhelming, art provides a means to process and channel our emotions, engendering a sense of ownership and empowerment,” shared Shore and Tanguy.

By confronting uncomfortable truths through artistic expression, the curators and Mother Earth artists create the foundation for a deeper connection to the environment, a greater sense of urgency to protect our natural world, and a more holistic vision for a sustainable future. 

Taiwanese artist Chiao-Han Chueh featured in GODDESSES, AMAZONS, & MOTHERS at the Romanian Cultural Institute

Celebrating International Women's Day at the opening of the group exhibition "GODDESSES, AMAZONS, and MOTHERS | A Celebration of Female Creativity,” at the Romanian Cultural Institute.

Curated by Aida Bianca Balamaci, this exhibition features work by international female artists, including Nunu Fine Art artist Chiao-Han Chueh, alongside Angela China, Hortensia Mi Kachin, Ana Maria Morar, Mariana Cromeyer, Ekatherina Savtchenko, and Nana Afya. Their unique voices transcend borders and cultures in an inclusive and empowering artistic dialogue on the current status of femininity, motherhood, and creativity.

THE SKY'S THE LIMIT, the inaugural group exhibition at the National Museum of Women in the Arts in Washington, DC, after a two-year building closure, features works by Petah Coyne and 12 other contemporary artists. Coyne's Untitled #1458 (Marguerite Duras), Untitled #1273, and Untitled #1563, are on display in this celebration of sculptural scale and materiality.  

In an interview with Cultured Magazine, Petah Coyne discussed her artwork Untitled #1458 (Marguerite Duras) (image 2-3), “I was told by a very special Canadian curator that the women in French Canada use Duras’s name as a verb when they wish to encourage one another to be strong and tough enough to get through difficult situations. I loved this idea almost as much as I loved her writing. Knowing her strength and the verb “duras” has helped me through the pandemic and many other difficult times.”

Petah Coyne “Untitled #959 (1999-2000)” in Spain at The Bilbao Fine Arts Museum'

See Petah Coyne's Untitled #959 (1999-2000) in Spain at The Bilbao Fine Arts Museum's new exhibition Womanology which highlights works from the private collection of José Ramón Prieto.

In this exhibition, the curators have chosen works by women artists— of which there are many in Prieto's collection. Womanology showcases 43 works from 35 different artists working in a variety of media and touches upon various art historical movements and various female perspectives. Untitled #959 is a pristine white plaster sculpture, with plaster being a media Coyne worked most heavily with in the late 1990s and early 2000s.

The German artist Franziska Fennert, is currently showing her installations that reflect this globally relevant topic ─ the natural world, in ARTFEM 2020, the second edition of the International Women Biennial of Art of Macau SAR (until Dec. 13th, 2020), revolves around the theme Natura and acknowledges various acts of that have been or need to be practiced.The core messages both works strive to deliver is what Franziska Fennert said: “Nature is our extended body and therefore we need to renew our relationship from exploitation to cooperation.”
